An Early Taste of Fall

While fall has not officialy arrived, we have had an appetizer the last couple of mornings as temperatures have fallen into the lower 60's, and in some cases, the upper 50's. These were the morning lows today. Lufkin, Jacksonville, and Jasper bottomed out at 61°, while Nacogdoches got all the way down to 59°. While you did not need the jackets, it was sure nice to be outside taking that early morning stroll or jog around the neighborhood.
The reason why temperatures have been able to cool off at night is because we have a dry airmass in place. Unlike humid air, dry air tends to cool off fairly rapidly at night and warm up rather quickly during the day. So with the humidity staying away for Sunday, look for another cool start to your day.
As we head into next week, however, look for the humidity to return, leading to overnight lows climbing into the 70's rather than the lower 60's.
